WASHINGTON, DC – – State Business Executives (SBE) issued the following in regards to the immigration reform legislation, the Dignity Act, introduced by Congresswoman Maria Salazar (FL-27):
“State Business Executives (SBE) applauds the introduction of the ‘Dignity Act’, proposed immigration reform legislation that is not only long overdue, but also builds upon many previous proposals offered by both Democrats and Republicans. Representative Salazar has put forth a significant and meaningful proposal that highlights the urgency for reform. There are considerable benefits to Dreamers, families, communities, and industry from getting an immigration bill to the President’s desk, states Jeff Wasden, SBE President & CEO . “We look forward to working with Rep. Salazar and her colleagues to find consensus, and areas for improvement, that will positively impact our labor force and economy. Common sense, practical, and humane reforms to our current outdated immigration system that offer certainty to temporary protected status holders, DACA recipients, farm workers, etc., while creating order and systematic processes for migrants arriving at our borders should be our highest priority. It is not just those in the business community that want commonsense reforms, this is an area where widespread bipartisan support exists and SBE is committed to working with Rep. Salazar to advance these much needed reforms.”
