WASHINGTON, DC – Today, State Business Executives (SBE) announced it is joining the Alliance for a New Immigration Consensus (ANIC) , a coalition demanding bipartisan action this year on necessary immigration reforms.
The ANIC is a diverse group of business, agriculture, education, faith and national security organizations working to advance bipartisan legislative solutions on key immigration reforms and border security during the 117th Congress.
“SBE is proud to become a member of the Alliance,” stated Justin Yancy, SBE Board Chair and President of Texas Business Leadership Council . “A strong and vibrant immigration system is a critical component for US competitiveness, and Congress must act. Establishing permanent legal protections for Dreamers, agricultural workers, and TPS holders all while working to build a safer and more secure border is a pragmatic mission Americans can get behind. These actions are too important for further delay.”
“State Business Executives’ enthusiasm speaks to the urgency of immigration reforms this year,” said Ali Noorani, President and CEO of the National Immigration Forum , another ANIC member. “The business community recognizes how immigrants are helping all Americans as we emerge from COVID-19 and continue to battle labor shortages and supply-chain challenges. Reforms that help Dreamers and ag workers, as well as bring order and compassion to our borders, will be good for business and good for America.”
The US immigration system is broken, and at no other point in history has the need for reform been greater than today. The Alliance is looking to solve this problem now.
Peter Guzman, SBE Board Vice Chair and President of the Latin Chamber of Commerce of Nevada , added, “Immigration Reform is long overdue, and it is time to recognize that doing it the way we do it now is unacceptable.”
